A Royal Priesthood of Restoration

Priesthood is a shared vocation of witness, holiness and service without claiming sacramental ordination.

Exodus 19:6 and 1 Peter 2:5, 9 provide the biblical basis for speaking of God's people in priestly terms. The Priesthood of Restoration receives this as vocation: a people consecrated to declare, embody and serve the restorative purposes of God.

Royal priesthood is not clerical supremacy

The word “priesthood” can be misunderstood as a claim that every member is an ordained priest or that the movement possesses sacramental authority by declaring itself to do so. That is not the movement's position.

Ordained ministry, episcopal oversight and sacramental priesthood belong to the ecclesial traditions that receive and regulate them. The Priesthood of Restoration names a wider restorative vocation of believers: prayer, witness, reconciliation, service, repair and holy living.

Priestly life becomes service

The measure is not title but fruit. A priestly vocation becomes visible when power serves, knowledge teaches, resources are stewarded, conflict is approached truthfully and vulnerable people are protected.
