Holy Spirit and Sacramental Life

Restoration is sustained by the Spirit through prayer, Scripture, communion, sacramental life and obedient participation.

Restoration is not an activism programme dressed in spiritual language. The work begins in communion with God. The Holy Spirit convicts, renews, sanctifies, gives gifts and forms the people of God into a living body rather than isolated spiritual consumers.

Grace embodied

Baptism, Eucharistic communion, confession, prayer, anointing, marriage and ordained ministry have long served Christian communities as embodied practices of grace, belonging, repentance and vocation. The Priesthood approaches sacramental life with reverence and does not claim authority to replace the sacramental ministries of apostolic churches.

Word, Spirit and communion

Scripture without prayer can become information. Spiritual experience without Scripture can become self-confirming. Individual conviction without communion can become unaccountable. The Restorer therefore learns discernment in relationship with Word, Spirit, community, tradition and fruit.

Formation for restoration

The test of spiritual formation is not spectacle. Galatians 5 directs attention toward the fruit of the Spirit. Restoration asks whether worship is producing love, patience, faithfulness, self-control, courage, mercy and concrete responsibility.
