Priesthood of Restoration

Participation in Divine Life

Restoration matures as humanity participates in divine life by grace and grows into the likeness of God.

Participation in Divine Life

Restoration matures as humanity participates in divine life by grace and grows into the likeness of God.

Second Peter 1:4 speaks of becoming “partakers of the divine nature.” Second Corinthians 3:18 describes transformation from glory to glory. John 15 uses the image of abiding in the vine. These texts point beyond external imitation toward communion that transforms.

Participation by grace

The Priesthood uses the language of participation carefully. Human beings do not become God by essence, cease to be creatures or acquire independent divinity. They receive grace, communion and transformation from God. Divine life is gift, not possession.

From image toward likeness

Participation gives divine alignment a richer meaning. Alignment is not merely agreement with propositions. It is the reordering of desire, character, attention and action toward the life of God. Love becomes more truthful. Power becomes service. Knowledge becomes wisdom. Freedom becomes communion rather than self-enclosure.

The fruit is restorative

Participation that produces pride contradicts itself. The closer a person claims to draw to God, the less defensible contempt, exploitation and spiritual superiority become. Growth in likeness should be recognised by humility, holiness, mercy, courage, truth and repair.
